I’m sitting, bored, at the Minneapolis airport without decent wireless, so I figured I’d get the first post of the Epic Tour written. I kinda consider Cabo a seperate trip as it was a completely different kind of trip. Last chance to use a curling iron and bring half a dozen shoes and wear dresses for the next 5 months. Kind of explains why my bag was 20lbs heavier too :)
It was a fantastic week to say the least, and perfectly timed so that I would get to spend time with nearly all my family, including members I hadn’t seen in many years. I also picked up a ’slight’ tan so that I’ll look less fresh-off-the-plane when I arrive in India and to give myself a break from the obsessive activity of planning a 5 month journey, although I did use it as an opportunity to test out certain gear configurations and drill the travelers in my family with questions about packing.
Wedding: Beautiful! My cousin was the most gorgeous bride ever! There was a little Mexican girl who wanted in on the magic and carried her train for her and also borrowed my camera and got some pretty decent group shots (all on flickr) the dinner was fantastic and I got to sit with my dear cousin Sarah while our riff-raff younger siblings wreaked havok at the kiddy table (the youngest of the cousin’s is 24) There were fantastic speaches (my favorite was Kyla’s) and dancing mixed with suicide shots. Cousin’s were being adopted left and right amongst the crew of merry revelers Danielle and Steve had brought together.
Highlights (in no particular order): Family, Drunkles, Christian Slater, tequila and fanta, street taco’s, skinny dipping, music, mustache party, fire hoops, cousin and sibling bonding, birthday and engagement celebrations, multiple configurations of family dinners, friends we hadn’t met yet, toasts, snorkeling, boat rides, maracas, sunshine, fancy party crashing, midnight ocean dips, tsunami warnings, belly laughs, swim up bars, running and jumping and giggling and playing.
